Work out the total weight on the bar using your bar and plate setup, so you know exactly what you're lifting.

Total barbell 75.00 kg

Bar + 1 x 25kg + 1 x 10kg each side

Bar weight: 20 kg
Plate load: 50 kg
Total: 70 kg

What is total barbell weight?

Total barbell weight is the combined load of the bar and all plates on both sides. It tells you the real amount you are lifting during a set.

How is it calculated?

Use the bar weight plus the total plate weight on both sides. The formula is: bar weight + (plate weight × plate count per side × 2).

Why does this matter?

Knowing the total barbell load helps you track strength progress, compare lifts across sessions, and make sure you are working with the right weight for your training plan.

How do I use this calculator?

Enter the bar weight and the number of plates on each side of the bar. The calculator will total the load automatically and show the full weight you are lifting.
